The Encyclopedia of Scotland: A Libretto The Encyclopedia of Scotland was published in 1982 by Annie Finch's own imprint, Caribou Press. The book was typeset on an IBM Selectric owned by the American Museum of Natural History, enhanced with woodcut illustrations by Alix Baer and a prefacing illustration of Calliope by Annie FInch, and printed in Amherst, Massachusetts in time for its inaugural performance at Hampshire College in April 1982. This book was performed several times in 1982 and 1983 by Annie Finch alone and with actors and the Fiction Music Ensemble. It is a shorter version, edited for performance by Annie Finch, of the original full-length "epic" version of the poem The Encyclopedia of Scotland, published in entirety for the first time by Salt Press in 2005. A limited number of copies of this original "libretto" printing of The Encyclopedia of Scotland are available for purchase from the author. Annie FInch has also written two other opera librettoes, Marina, which premiered in 2003 from American Opera Projects, and Lily Among the Goddesses, forthcoming from Red Hen Press as part of the volume Among the Goddesses: An Epic Poem and Libretto.
