Research Description
My main research ativities are currently within three different categories:
The first is my chemistry research that deals with the solid state ionic properties of boranes and carboranes. More information regarding my chemistry activities can be found at the link below.
I am currently invovled in research in the use of 'pencasts' and other types of multimedia lecturettes as a way of helping to produce online educational materials for science classes like chemistry and physics, as well as math. One aspect of the project can be found below:
CTEL Spring '10 Emerging Technology Project: Pocket Learning

You can also view a series of pencasts of certain chemistry classes including General Chemistry, GOB Chemistry (ie. nursing) and pre-organic chemistry:

I also have a strong interest in science literacy and believe that science is for everyone. Often students are reluctant to approach the physical sciences, so, instead, I feel we can bring it to them. This is done in the guise of 'Big History', which is a nominally a history class, but relies on a range of science topics as a foundation. I have been looking at the growth of 'Big History' as a discipline as one of my other research avenues.
