USM Classics is an affiliated member of Duke University’s semester- or year-long study abroad program in Rome (ICCS-Rome). The curriculum includes Italian, Latin, and archaeology. For more information about this opportunity, contact:

This two-week course begins at an educational center (the Castello di Spannocchia) on an agricultural estate near Siena, Italy. The site includes guest housing, classroom space, studio space, library, pool, and gardens. Classroom meetings will alternate with field trips to Etruscan sites, including Siena, Florence, Volterra, and Tarquinia. The course ends with several days of on-site instruction in Rome, including a visit to the premier Etruscan museum at the Villa Giulia.
