Placement Exams

Students who have previous language study may want to take a Placement test to help determine their level. This should be done prior to the semester in which they plan to enroll in a USM language course.

Students who have studied German or Spanish should contact the Department of Modern & Classical Languages & Literatures at
(207) 780-4290 in order to arrange to take a placement exam.

Students who have studied French, should make arrangements with the Office of Academic Assessment to take the French Placement Test.

Various times and dates will be offered for the French Placement Test.

Test dates for the summer of 2010:

Friday, June 11 - 9 a.m.
Friday, Aug 6 - 9 a.m.
