As in real life, grammar, spelling, and deadlines count in your evaluation.
Students are required to turn in all assignments on the specified due
date. This is nonnegotiable. A letter grade will be deducted for every
day an assignment is late. (Any assignment turned in to my mailbox after
4:00 pm on the specified date is considered late. Any assignment turned
in after a weekend is counted as two days late.)
Participation will be graded on the basis of informed and quality contributions
to the class. University policy is that attendance is required at all
class meetings "where class participation is essential to primary learning."
Subsequently, attendance will be part of your evaluation.
University academic ethics codes apply. Cheating and plagiarism in
all their forms are unacceptable, and will result in a zero assignment
and possibly a failure in the course. If you are unaware of the proper
format for citation in research papers or reports, please read the department's
guide. Do not forget to use citations in your paper (Department
of Political Science Style Guide). Papers or reports that are not
in the right format will be substantially penalized in their grade assessment.
Any students with disabilities who need accommodations in this
course are encouraged to speak with the instructor as soon as possible
to make appropriate arrangements. This publication will be made available
in alternative formats upon request.
