Partnerships Faculty With 33 buildings on 150 acres of woods, fields and waterfront, the camp on North Pond in Rome, Maine provides a traditional camping experience each summer to about 500 Maine children and adults with moderate to severe disabilities. Pine Tree Camp enables its campers with disabilities to swim, fish, go boating, play athletic games, make arts and crafts projects and camp overnight around a roaring fire in a fully accessible setting. Clinical Time: Week stay at Pinetree Camp Students work with children ages 8-18 with mostly physical handicaps such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, or impaired mobility due to trauma. Many children are in wheelchairs. Learning in a fun environment including involvement in camp activities, time spent in "sick call" in the infirmary, doing procedures, providing on-call night care, providing 1 on 1 care and communicating with parents.
